map1.gif Microsoft MapPoint helpfully suggests this scenic route from Haugesund, Rogaland, Norway to Trondheim, Sør-Trøndelag, Norway, when asked for the quickest.

This route may well be the quickest that includes England, France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Germany, Denmark, and Sweden.

I don't know if it's what happened here, but in the past I've heard this kind of thing explained by some cross-the-ocean leg lengths getting interpreted as negative numbers. The result is that the total trip length, which is computed by summing the leg lengths, is lowest by including those negative values.
